DC Licensing

In early 2006 The District of Columbia began the process of promulgating regulations and procedures as to Title Insurance licensing, rates filings, policy forms and qualifications for doing business as a licensed title insurance underwriter or agent. The DC Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking requested and the DCLTA has reviewed the proposed legislation and offered suggestions/comments on behalf of the industry. The proposed legislation is under administrative review and may be introduced in 2006. The Task Force continues to monitor the progress of the proposed legislation to ensure that the resulting outcome benefits our goal of having the highest quality professionals facilitating the real estate closing process.
