TENTATIVE AGENDA

2:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Registration

2:30 pm – 3:00 pm
Washington, DC Economic Outlook
Derek Ford, President & CEO, Washington DC Economic Partnership
Washington, DC is experiencing the largest federal workforce cut in a generation, and it has changed the real estate market. It has not stopped it. OpenAI, Netflix, NVIDIA and Anduril have all opened or expanded in the District, office buildings are being converted to housing at a record pace, and major projects like the RFK campus and Capital One Arena are moving forward. This quick session will lay out where the District's economy stands heading into 2027 and where the opportunities are for the people who close deals here: the office market and the conversion pipeline, the residential market segment by segment, the technology sector WDCEP is working to grow, and the projects and programs most likely to drive transactions over the next two years. He closes with what changes, and what does not, when a new mayor takes office in January 2027.

3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Interfacing with District of Columbia Credit Collection Unit
Representative(s) from the DC Department of Buildings Credit Collection Unit
This session provides a practical overview of the District of Columbia Central Collection Unit (CCU), including the types of non-taxable debts it collects and the procedures for referring delinquent debts from District agencies to the CCU. Attendees will learn about the CCU’s collection and enforcement tools, including administrative and collection charges, credit reporting and debt sales, potential license and permit suspensions, and liens on real property as well as procedures for resolving CCU matters.

4:00 pm – 4:15 pm: ALTA Remarks
Chris Morton, Chief Executive Officer, American Land Title Association

4:15 pm – 4:30 pm: Installation of DCLTA Officers
Chris Morton, Chief Executive Officer, American Land Title Association

4:30 pm – 5:30 pm
Looking Back at the March 17, 1800, Washington Navy Yard Land Conveyance
K. Denise Rucker Krepp, Director, Director’s Action Group, Naval History and Heritage Command
The entire presentation is an examination of the conveyance of land (specifically the Navy Yard) in the District of Columbia. It uses the March 17, 1800, conveyance of Navy Yard as a window into the early history of land ownership and conveyancing in the District of Columbia. By examining the property, its owners, the parties to the conveyance, and the laws that shaped the new federal city, attendees will gain insight into how real estate transactions helped build the nation's capital. The presentation illustrates how property rights, government planning, and national priorities intersect in DC.

5:30 – 6:30: Happy Hour
Stick around for a toast and networking as we wrap up the day.
